- I don't know of a way to unlock the volume control if you can't remember the combination, but you can reset the iPod so that it doesn't have the volume controlled any more. You will lose all of the other settings, as well as your music and videos, but you can recopy them from your computer to the iPod as part of the restore process. 1. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes. 2. On the left side of the screen, there is a section that says "devices." Click on the device you want to reset (if you have more than one iPod or iPhone, make sure you pick the correct one!) 3. The iPod panel will open on the right side of the screen. About halfway down, you will see an button that says "Restore" Click on this button and confirm. It might take up to an hour for iTunes to restore and recopy all of your stuff back onto your iPod, but after that you will be able to change the volume limit settings and set a new combination. You can also choose not to have a combination protecting your settings so that you can change them again later.
