As consumer spending slows and retailers tamp down their expectations for the holiday shopping season, Brickman has tried to insulate herself from the cooling consumer economy by finding a niche.

Their job is to energize shoppers, said Northbrook Court marketing manager Arnold Cohen. Shoppers did seem to be buying, drawn by sales.
